ALTAR MINISTRY Consists of clergy, a deaconess, lay readers, acolytes, torchbearers, all those who serve at the altar. ALTAR GUILD Ladies of the church who prepare the altar for worship services and tend to the needs of the clergy. The Altar Guild Directress is Lynne Coleman. VESTRY The Vestry consists of 9 elected members, nominated by members of the church, that serve 3 year terms, along with the Rector. The Vestry functions as a Board of Directors for Church of the Holy Communion. Bud Longueville serves as our Senior Warden. HOLY COMMUNION WOMEN All women of Church of the Holy Communion. The President is Diana Tipton. EVANGELISM COMMITTEE Chaired by Lisa Sanchez, the Evangelism Committee seeks to draw more people to Church of the Holy Communion. They sponsor several events each year focused on growing our membership. COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE Chaired by Tom Deupree, the Outreach Committee works with various community groups to assist where help is needed. USHERS Head usher, Charlie Hansen, and his team of ushers assist in all of the church services by greeting members and visitors, helping with seating issues, handing out church bulletins and are there to help with any emergency situation that may arise. CHOIR Carol Mulvey, Choirmaster and Organist, Chris Hoyt lead the choir in song each Sunday. The choir alternates between singing at the 9:00am Holy Communion service (2nd and 4th Sundays) and the 11:15am service of Morning Prayer (1st and 3rd Sundays). They also sing at Evensong services, prior to our parish dinners. The choir consists of over 20 voices and rehearses each Wednesday night at 7:00pm in the loft of the church. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY Helen Lankford, leader of our Prayer Shawl Ministry, and her team of knitters meet monthly (normally on the 4th Saturday of each month, excluding the summer) in the Library of the Edman Building. The Prayer Shawl Ministry continues to be a very successful ministry of Church of the Holy Communion. The ladies knit shawls for people who are hurting and are in need of comforting. The shawls are knitted with love and are prayed over and blessed prior to being given to the recipient. The shawls are also given on happy occasions, such as the birth of a baby. FINANCE COMMITTEE Finance Committee Chairman, Tonya Mullarkey and her committee of dedicated members oversee the finances of Church of the Holy Communion. They provide monthly reports and recommendations to our Vestry and work with all the Committee Chairs in providing an annual budget. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION Consists of various adult and youth Bible study and Sunday school classes taught by CHC clergy and lay people. The adult education is led by our rector, Bishop Ray Sutton and the youth are led by Father Jeff Baker and Father Kasey Gage. FLAIR (Future Leaders Advocating the Importance of Religion) FLAIR is our teen youth group, led by Father Kasey and Karla Gage. This group,(6th grade through 12th grade) is split into two different groups for their studies, but meet as one group for their outreach and social activities. The younger FLAIR group is taught by Kent Sawtelle. CAREER CLASS This class, for those younger adults beginning their careers and families, discuss and decide what the group study will cover. Deacon Chris Woodall teaches this class which meets weekly, excluding the summer months. PARISH DINNERS Amy Brady, Sherry Caudell and Penny Deupree are the organizers of our monthly parish dinners which are held on a Sunday evening (usually the first Sunday of the month, but not always). The evening often begins with a short Evensong service in the church at 5:00pm. After the service, we gather for fellowship, dinner, and some sort of program. We all bring a covered dish to share. DINNER CLUB Tables of Eight is a fairly new formed Dinner Club which meets on a monthly basis at local Dallas restaurants. The group members change each month and each group is assigned a captain who is in charge of coordinating with the members of each team. The Dinner Club is led by Amy Brady, Sherry Caudell, Cathy Heissenhuber, Dss. Mary Jane Mathieu and Rudy and Martha Schenken.
